Research Scientist - Well Technology

RESMAN has developed a technology for monitoring of inflow of oil and water into hydrocarbon wells by means of chemical tracers. Tracers are released from downhole polymers and the topside registered tracer flowback is combined with flow models to answer the main question: “What flows where and how much?”. RESMAN was established based on technology from SINTEF and IFE. The company’s major shareholders are Statoil Venture and Verdane Capital. RESMAN’s headquarters and manufacturing facilities are in Trondheim and the company currently employs 21 persons. During the last year, offices have also been established in Stavanger, Houston and Rio de Janeiro. Revenue increased sharply both from 2007 to 2008 and from 2008 to 2009, and further growth in revenue and number of employees is expected in 2010.


Research Scientist – Well Technology

Understanding the flow of fluids from the Reservoir, via the wells and the flow-lines up to a toside sampling point is at the very core of RESMAN’s technology. You will be an important contributor in the development of interpretation methods and models, and you will be implementing these for use on a day-to-day basis. The interpretation of tracer flowbacks in delivery projects will also be an important part of the work as well as presentations of results to customers. Understanding of reservoir/well technology and multiphase flow is more important than extensive experience. Skills in model building, numerical analysis and simulation are a benefit. Your education level is MSc or higher. You work efficiently, keep order and make decisions based on thorough reflection. The ability to combine creativity and systematic work will be important factors in your personality profile. Contact with partners within research and development as well as customers and travelling will be required.
